About us

Impact valuation assesses the relative importance of outcomes by weighing the benefits versus the costs of changes to stakeholders. It allows a wide range of impact indicators to be converted into a single comparable metric. When this common metric of measurement is currency, valuation can also be referred as impact monetization.

By expressing outcomes in a common metric, impact investors can identify which outcomes deliver the most societal value, compare performances between investments and estimate how much societal value is generated relative to the financial investment.

As impact valuation allows analyzing and acting upon information using a harmonized language, it facilitates communication among evaluators, impact entrepreneurs, firms, investors and regulators.

In essence, the ultimate purpose of impact valuation is to generate information and learnings that enable taking better informed decisions, ultimately resulting in impact optimization.

Impact valuation practices build upon many years of development of the impact investing ecosystem and impact measurement and management practices such as the true cost accounting and social return on investment. The Impact Valuation Hub has been set with the objective to further establish impact valuation into fund management practices, share practical ways to value impact, build and share impact pathways and data sets and foster collaboration among investors.
